Final

S1- Winner take all
In what has been a highly entertaining series
the points table had quite a work out at Jilisen Park in
Taumarunui.
Irish champion, Greg Kinsella has returned
home leaving four others to battle for the right to be New
Zealand's
first Supermoto national champion. After suffering a DNF
at round one, Kinsella grabbed the championship lead at round
two. His class showed through on the day but rookie (well
it was only his second supermoto ever!!) Aaron Slight certainly
pushed up the pace and promised plenty of fireworks for the
final round this weekend (20 April) at Taupo.
Paul Brown on the Husaberg still has a healthy
lead of 13 points going into the final. The 15 point lead
Brown held after round one however gives little indication
of the hive of activity below him on the table. Brendon Stephenson
swapped round performances with Slight at Taumarunui and
now moves from third on the table to fourth.
Brown won the very
first race at round one and has been unable to grab
another win since. Aside from the departed Kinsella, KTM's
Stephen Briggs has been the only other rider to take wins.
With Briggs fifth placing in the championship, the suitability
of Taupo to the bigger bikes and the fact that Aaron Slight,
on the smaller CRF480 (who has been the big mover in the
championship) Taupo looks set for some fine race action.

Paul Brown (#23) bids farewell to
Championship leader Greg Kinsella.
Another to rejoin the ranks is Blake Gillard
on a stock KTM 525. Brendon Coad hopes to show some of his
form from round one and Ian Atkins will be looking to continue
his improving performances as will his boss Russell Josiah.
Chamionship promotor Nigel Bevin heads them all in the championship.
