Plenty of classes in 05

Husaberg Supermoto series.

Road Race support and everone on a Supermoto.

The Husaberg Supermoto 2005 Series kicks off at Taupo's Centennnial Park Raceway on the 22nd of May and there are a huge range of classes for everyone.

As support the Supermoto series (which sees riders taking in the purpose built off road supermoto section) will have road race only Formula three machines and a Thumper class for those (Supermoto bikes included) who wish to race on a tarmac only course.

450 class added.

The specialist open Supermoto class gets a boost with a new Kiwi Rider sponsered S2 class put in for good measure. This is made up of up to 450cc four strokes and 300 two strokes on 17inch wheels. With the S1 class having some truly big guns it felt that a huge number of 450 riders were perhaps a bit coy about their chances so the S2 class has been added.

The S1 class should prove as competitive as ever. It is worth noting that young Blake Gillard won the last national championship race (open S1) on a bog stock KTM525 with wheels and a brake.

Of course there is the Stockmens class, which as the name suggests has stock wheeled bikes. Many of these guys would be right up there with the S class racers for speed but it's perhaps a more affordable option. This class is broken down into the various capacity classes with the transponder timing and numbers permitting get there own individual classes. sThe quads class is always a hoot to both watch and ride in (by the look of it).

EVERONE can have a go.

Also new for this series is a "give a mate a go session" (GAMAG session) where anyone who has been sort of interested but can't bring themselves to get it together can go for a spin on, you guessed it, a mate's bike. Blake Gillard is a prime example. " I wasn't that keen when I was offered a ride but I thought oh well might as well have a crack.....now I'm bloody hooked!". The motocross boys have the bike but few have been that keen to step up. With the new S2 class and the GAMAG sessions we are sure supermoto will have another growth spurt this season.

The first race meeting is on 22nd of May. Check out the events page.
