Bike Torque
sets the wheels spinning.
Report Staff.
The day started with a freezing cold morning,
very misty, slightly wet track. Perhaps ten S2 riders and
a small field of Sportsmen competitiors fronted the days
proceedings.
S2 Race 1:
The front row of the grid was worked out from
results of last years winter series:
Pole - Summers, Rowe & Howe(Squid).
Summers led the way all race. On the second
lap Jeremy baker (203) lost the front end on the left hander
onto the
dirt (cold
tyres).
Next lap motocross convert, Mitch Rowe went down in the same
place. Bike Torque's Ian Atins stayed hot on his bosses
(Russell Josiah) heels for the whole race with the pair grabbing
fourth and .third respectively
S2 Race 2:
Carnage!
Summers started at the back witha webcam strapped
to his helmet. Within a couple of laps, Rowe crashes on
the same corner as he had in the previous race, turning onto
dirt, nearly taking Summers down with him.
Auckland's Stephen Croad leads from Atkins. Croad
falls a couple of laps in (coolant leaked) with Atkins inheriting
the lead. Jeremy Baker moves up
into
second. All the while Summers is moving up the field.
Baker then runs out of gas in the dirt section,
Summers has now worked up to second.
Rowe
crashes
a couple more times in the races duration (how many?)
Summers taking Atkins
mid air over a jump. Just as Summers looks assured of the
win he gets a puncture on the last lap. Atkins
wins
from Josiah.
S2 race 3:
Summers again starts from the back with Atkins
from pole. As the track had warmed a little and everybody
seemed to have a better handle on how far they could push
the race runs incident free. Summers dices through
the pack to win, Rowe improves
with a close tussle and a second place finish.
S2 race 4:
Summers again takes the chequered flag with
Atkins not starting after injuring his hand.
