The "#55 sandwich". Carrick leads Summers and Aussie McFarlane. Summers won three of the days races. The #55's picked up a race a piece.

The legendary 'Cemetery Circuit' ran a supermoto section for the second year in a row this last boxing day. And what a day it was!

With the rain dropping in buckets the night before, competitors were well prepared for the following race day. However before the racing had even begun everybody had pretty much burnt out their wet weather tyres! Each session had started wet and ended up dry, tearing everyones tyres up but giving fans plenty to keep them entertained..

The results after qualifying were.

Race 1

Things cleared up for the races so everyone breathed a little easier about their tyre situation and the fans got into their spots ready for the action. There was plenty of expectation from Aussie hotshot Josh McFarlane. He'd looked to have the wheels to go all the way last year. With last year's experience to draw on he'd come back with two factory vdB Aprilia's, almost certainly the fastest machines on the straights, and a point to prove.

Yamaha's Toby Summers grabbed the holeshot from pole position and the crowd was pumping to see him have the early lead. McFarlane was next across the line on the first lap but in a repeat of last year he wasn't able to hold it together and fell on the next lap.

Taupo's Scott Moir (KTM SMR450) held station in second place for the duration as Summers eased away from the field. Motocross vet Mitch Rowe was another one to fall early on and did a great job working his way through to fifth at the flag.

- Race 2

- This time Aussie McFarlane held it together and showed what he had. Unfortunately for him it wasn't enough and his only consolation was that he at least got to see Summers take the flag.

The rest of the field didn't see much of the the lead pair after the third lap. Mitch Rowe stayed on and grabbed third from Moir who ended up runner up for the day.

Race 1

Local man and one of the people behind the instalation of a supermoto section at Wanaganui, Jayden Carrick lead the first race from start to finish. Summers on lightly modifed 450 couldn't catch the Honda rider and Aussie McFarlane was fairing even worse with a number of stalls throughout the races duratiuon.

Race 2

Carrick was again on pole but Paul Brown (Husaberg) led Scott Moir into the dirt with Summers and Rowe behind. Summers was onto him moving into the lead on the second lap. Luckless McFarlane had been dominoed into the haybales after Rowe had tried a adventous move into the first corner.

Carrick was pushing back toward the leaders early on but ran into trouble, as did Scott Moir who crashed in the dirt mid race, Rowe joined the horizontal movement but got up and got back past Hamlin and then Brown. Brown fought back the position just before the finish line.

Feature Race (all in)

The tables turned for Summers and McFarlane in the all in feature race. Summers, trying hard to make up for a botched start ran straight on in the first turn and had to turn around and work his way from last place.

Rowe was out to make amends for earlier mishaps and held the lead until being passed, of all places, in the dirt section by McFarlane.Rowe's luck soon deserted him when his machine ground to a halt on the second lap when a stone jammed his brake on and he spent time sorting it out.

Carrick grabbed the flag and gave chase but McFarlane, who set the fastest time of the day, was not to be denigned his moment in the Sun. Summers had thrilled the crowd through out, climbing to a increditable fouth just behind Rowe.
