Supermotard / Rally Racing at Mystery Creek

The Repco Rally of New Zealand (part of the FIA world rally) is going to have Supermotard racing as support to the main event. The racing will not be pack racing as usual.Racing head to head, rider will race one against another, firstly for grading purposes to establish three separate groups. This will be based on the top four, middle four and then bottom four qualifiers. These riders will then go on to race each other for the final positions to establish the winners of each tier.

These races will be 2 lap sprints on part of the actual "Special Stage" rally circuit which literally goes around the Corporate Village, and here is the most interesting bit, it is on a mainly gravel surface. There is a good jump and some interesting corners, a bit of tarseal some dirt and hopefully we will have a couple of berms built as well. (we have had a couple of bikes having a play on the track and the smiles said it all.

Timing will consist of set up after 2pm Thursday 28th

(There will be a street party for the WRC in Hamilton Friday night and some bikes and riders there would be great).

Teams will need to be set up by 8am Friday Riders brief and meeting Friday 10am.

Friday 29 August 2008 1.30pm - 2.30pm (Practice round) 3.30pm - 4.30pm (timed solo grading rounds)

Saturday 30 August 2008 11.00am - 12.00pm (Racing)

Sunday 31 August 2008 12.30pm - 1.30pm (Racing - FINALS)

We are also going to be making a ½ hour documentary on the event covering, the sport the machines and the riders. This has been agreed for showing on TV3 already, so we'll keep everyone posted re viewing times etc.
