Pacific AMCC
SuperMotard Round at the MT Wellington Kart Track.
7 SuperMotard riders came to ready
race at the combined Bucket/SuperMotard meeting. Every one had
an awesome time. Even Steven Briggs showed up and cut loose
on the Mighty KTM factory bike!
Anthony "roadblock"
Bradford came all the way from Dannevirke to join the fun. Todd
Sutherland also found time to actually race a SuperMotard bike
instead of writing about them!
Race Report
Much to his surprise, Anthony
"traveling roadblock" Bradford won the 1st race on
his Kawasaki KX500 ahead of a charging John Faithfull on his
KTM.
Faithfull blasted into the lead
in race 2 and disappeared into the distance to take a easy win.
Bradford holeshotted race 3 but
was promptly relegated to 2nd place by Faithfull who put a daring
inside move coming into the sweeper on the 1st lap, using his
home track knowledge to the max. Faithful then kicked 2 stroke
butt and cleared off for yet another easy race win.
Bradford charged into the race
lead and held it for another 12 laps, where upon he threw his
bike onto it's side for a spot of Sunday lawn mowing. Faithfull
took the now predictable win with Bradford remounting and finishing
down the order.
After the seemingly standard 5
lap warm up, The Motards fronted for Race 5! Bradford again
got the lead into the 1st corner, but once again got his 2 stroke
butt kicked by Faithful on the grunty KTM 4 stroke, after finally
making a 3 corner passing move stick! Then Briggs came ranging
up on tiring unfit computer bum Bradford, Briggs tried to do
it under brakes at the end of the front straight, but ran strait
on in the attempt. The mighty 1988 Kawasaki gpx750 caliper just
to much for the 6 pot brembo ;-). A rapidly improving Todd Sutherland
then added toBradfords misery and kept the pressure on right
to the line, just coming up a little short.
Official results may come at a
later date!
Unofficial results- 4 strokes-
4 points, 2 strokes- 1 point!
General Comments
The Auckland Motorcycle Club put
on a fine days racing in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere.
Many thanks to the organizers for inviting us Super Motard types
along!
Fun was had by all the SuperMotarders
there. Several had turned up with standard wheels and were on
the pace. Judging from the balled up rear tire's as the day
progressed, much experience and speed was gained throughout
the day.
It actually stayed dry for the
whole day in Auckland!
