We're not sure where the good or the evil were
(perhaps he was refering to the super slippery conditions)
but Paul Gee declared that "good had indeed triumphed
over evil" after Gee and John Faithful took out the 'Computer
Force' 2 man 1
hour challenge, run on the 23rd of November.
Competition was hot between the Husaberg duo
of Gee/Faithful and the 'evil' KTM teaming of Stephen Briggs
and Dannivirke's Brendon Stephenson. Briggs took an early
lead with plenty of (the usual) sliding antics, but Faithful
was able to take the lead on the track late in the 1st session.
The 2 front running teams made good use of their
wet weather equiped machines (road race wet tyres proving
essential) to ease out well ahead of the following machines.
Some fine throttle control (at times) was shown
by riders on street tyre equiped, 2 stroke machines but it
was the events sponser Mark Collier and co rider Todd Sutherland
who managed the classic tortoise and hare strategy well enough
to grab the last podium of the day on their standard wheeled
Yamaha WR400F.
Thwarted somewhat by their need to refuel at each rider
change the Briggs/Stephenson pairing took the checkered
flag a lap down on the Gee/Faithful combo despite a Gee
last corner excursion.
